Peter Dinklage, interpreter of Tyrion Lannister in “Game of Thrones”, joins the cast of “Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird”, prequel to the famous saga.

He is best known for the role he held for eight seasons in the series “Game of Thrones”. Peter Dinklage, aka Tyrion Lannister, has just joined the cast of “Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird”. Adapted from a prequel book published in 2020 by Suzanne Collins (also the author of the original saga), this feature film will take us seventy years before the events depicted in the films starring Jennifer Lawrence.

The pitch? Young and dashing Coriolanus Snow – yes, he’s the president/dictator in ‘Hunger Games’ – is trying to find a place for himself in Panem’s high society… Appointed “mentor” of the Xe edition of the “Hunger Games”, he took under his wing and trained Lucy Gray Baird, a young woman from District 12 known for her bravery and her golden voice.

The role of an Academic Dean

We already know that Peter Dincklage will play a certain Casca Highbottom in the film. If his name means nothing to you, that’s normal. The character is absent from the original saga. Highbottom is in fact the dean of the prestigious Academy attended by the young Coriolanus Snow… What role will he play exactly in the story? If you’re not afraid of spoilers, Suzanne Collins’ book will give you some answers.

The “Game of Thrones” actor, seen in the films “Three Billboards: The Panels of Vengeance” (2017) and “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), joins an already well-stocked cast. Played by Donald Sutherland in the original saga, Coriolanus Snow will be camped this time by the British Tom Blyth (“The Guiled Age”, “Billy The Kid”). The role of Lucy Gray Baird was given to Rachel Zegler, who burst onto the screen in “West Side Story” (2021), a film adaptation of the famous musical. Note that the actress and model Hunter Schafer, known for portraying Jules Vaughn in the “Euphoria” series since 2019, will also be part of the cast.

In production, the film will arrive in American theaters on November 17, 2023. No date has yet been set for France.
