10 God Country

Netflix’s sweettooth happens to be one of its most beloved television series, and thanks to its success its showrunner, Jim Mickle, is bringing another comic property to life in God Country.

From the minds of Donny Cates, Jason Wordie, and Geoff Shaw, God Country focuses on an elderly widowed man finding an enchanted sword that somehow cures his dementia. As a result of this discovery horrid and dangerous creatures begin appearing, and it’s up to him and his new weapon to take them out. The cast is still unknown, but it was revealed recently that Donny Cates, one of the comic’s writers, finished the script for the movie in 2021.

9 Dept. H

Netflix’s ongoing partnership with Dark Horse Comics properties has and will serve as a foundation for many of their original programs set to release in the coming years. Created by Matt Kindt, Dept. H is one of these such examples as the fantasy comic is being adapted into a feature-length movie. The story focuses on a woman who is in search of why her scientist father was killed, on a journey that leads her to investigate a deep-sea research facility at the bottom of the ocean.

The movie began early production in late 2021, but there is still no clarification as to who belongs to the cast of this upcoming Dark Horse Comics adaptation.

8 High in the Clouds

Every year streaming services fight over the attention of audiences with new content, much of it being licensed adaptations of known stories. High in the Clouds is an upcoming animated feature directed by Timothy Reckart, based on a novel of the same name written by Paul McCartney. The legendary member of The Beatles is reportedly making original music for the movie as well.

High in the Clouds follows a young squirrel named Wirral who joins a team of rebels who all happen to be anthropomorphic animals.
