The Princess: Where You’ve Seen The Cast Before

The Princess is a new-age fairytale with a stellar cast of characters smashing their way through the story.

The Princess, now streaming on Hulu, puts a new spin on the classic damsel in distress fairytale trope. Here, the Princess not only saves the kingdom but proves her worth as a fighter and action hero along the way. The film borders on a parody of shows like Game Of Thrones and The Tudors but has a mix of comedy and action that has paid off in other movies like The Hitman’s Bodyguard, all while keeping the classic fairytale feeling alive.

The film’s cast is relatively small and features some serious star power and familiar faces from other movies and TV shows, some of which are streaming exclusively on Hulu.

7 Joey King – The Act (2019)

Joey King has proven herself to be one of Hollywood’s strongest young actors, having consistently starred in movies for various streaming platforms. The Princess isn’t King’s first leading role in a movie or television series, but it is one of her most stunt heavy. One of Joey King’s best roles was in The Actwhere she played Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

King captured not only the joy Gypsy Rose has but also the dark thoughts and plans Blanchard would later carry against her mother. This role showed King could star in teen romance movies but should also be seen as a serious dramatic actor.

6 Olga Kurylenko – Black Widow (2021)

Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster In Black Widow

Olga Kurylenko is well acquainted with the action genre, with most of her roles being the femme fatale character, but in 2021 Kurylenko became one of Marvel’s newest villains as Taskmaster in Black Widow. Some fans may not recognize Kurylenko without the prosthetics used in the movie or because Taskmaster was a woman of few words.

Kurylenko proved that her fighting skills are some of the best in Hollywood and will be displayed in her latest project, as she takes on the role of a villain once again. Moira serves Julius and aids him in his quest to keep The Princess under his thumb.

5 Alex Reid – The Descent (2005)

Alex Reid plays The Queen, which is a far cry from her role as Beth in the 2005 disaster horror movie The Descent. Reid makes viewers feel the absolute terror she and her friends feel as they become trapped in a cave with a monster that may or may not be real. The film is far from the new action-comedy where Reid plays The Princess’s mother.

The Queen doesn’t discourage her daughter from learning to fight, even though it goes against tradition. The Queen is the most compassionate parent between her and her husband, the King.

4 Ed Stoppard – Assassin’s Creed Black Flag (2013)

Video game fans may not recognize Ed Stoppard’s face, but they should recognize his voice as one of the best characters from Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Stoppard seems to have a preference for historical roles as his resume is full of period pieces and historically based video games. Stoppard plays The King in The Princess, where he promises his daughter to the horrible Julius.

The King does not care for his daughter as a father should and is more worried about his political affiliations.

3 Kristofer Kamiyasu – The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (2021)

2 Dominic Cooper – Agent Carter

Probably one of the film’s most recognizable faces in The PrincessMarvel fans will know Dominic Cooper from his role as one of the best characters in Agent Carter and Captain America: The Last Avenger, Howard Stark. Cooper’s portrayal as Stark made the charismatic playboy role he was said to play before becoming a husband and father. His latest role is a far cry from the likable Stark.

Cooper plays Julius, who believes he can have whatever he wants whenever he wants, but The Princess makes it her mission to prove him wrong. Also known for his role in Mamma Mia! and its sequel, Cooper doesn’t often play a villain, so it is interesting to see him as the main antagonist rather than a hero.

1 Veronica Ngo – Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi (2017)

Star Wars fans will remember Veronica Ngo as Paige Tico from Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi. Paige proves to be an essential gunner for the resistance and ultimately gives her life to save the rest of the galaxy from the evil Kylo Ren. Even though she played a pivotal role in keeping the series going, Paige Tico is one of the unsung heroes of the Star Wars franchise.

In The Princess, Ngo plays Linh, who is The Princess’s trainer and greatest ally in her escape. Lihn gets the recognition as a hero in The Princess that Paige Tico never got from Star Wars fans.
