Netflix has received some backlash from the US government for “normalizing” the Chinese government’s incarceration of Uyghur Muslims by adapting these books because of the author’s controversial views.

Five Republican senators drew up a letter to the streaming platform’s CEO Ted Sarandos to complain about them doing so.

Netflix’s vice president of global policy Dean Garfield responded to the criticism, stating: “Netflix does not operate a service in China. Netflix judges individual projects on their merits. Mr Liu is the author of the book – The Three-Body Problem – not the creator of this show. We do not agree with his comments, which are entirely unrelated to his book or this Netflix show.”

Game Of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. Spin off House of the Dragon is now filming and will premiere on August 21, 2022 in the UK.
