Actors from Star Wars and Game of Thrones were among the stars at Gateshead’s Comic-Con.

The event, held at The Fed in Dunston, gave visitors the chance to get dressed up as their favorite film or comic book characters and meet special guests from legendary films and TV shows. Game of Throne actor Josef Altin, who played Pypar, a steward in the Night’s Watch, and also appeared in Star Wars, was one of the stars at the event.

Actor, stuntman, and former Newcastle Eagles player Ian Whyte, who played Dongo the Doomed in Game of Thrones, was also there to meet fans. Ian, who has appeared in Harry Potter and Star Wars, chatted about his experience playing Predator in the movie Alien vs Predator at the event.

Joining the two Game of Thrones stars was actor Angus MacInnes, famous for his role as Jon ‘Dutch’ Vander in Star Wars episode IV: A New Hope. The actors met hundreds of fans and signed photos or memorabilia at the Comic-Con, organized by Unleashed Events.

Sharon Hall from Unleashed Events said the Gateshead Comic-Con has been one of their biggest yet.

“It’s great to be back in Gateshead,” she said. “It has been one of the biggest Comic-Con events. Our Gateshead Comic-Con has an amazing turnout as it has a little bit of everything for everyone.

“The Fed building gives you the chance to explore and experience what Comic-con is all about – there’s everything from wrestlers to dinosaurs! It is a great family day out where you can get that ultimate geeky photo to impress, escape reality and have lots of fun.”

Fans dressed up as characters ranging from Harley Quinn to Scream were able to browse stalls selling collectables at the event. Wrestling bouts from Contract Wrestling and retro arcade games were also on offer to entertain visitors.
